Some iPhone 6 units still bricked in Australia after iOS 8.0.2 update

Apple was quick to issue a fix for its botched iOS 8.0.1 release that bricked iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, as the company rolled out iOS 8.0.2 on Thursday night. The latest update seems to have fixed most iOS 8.0.1 problems, enabling HealthKit apps in the process, but it looks like not all of the major issues in iOS 8.0.1 are gone.
Apparently some users in Australia still have connectivity and Touch ID issues on theiriPhone 6 units, just like they did in iOS 8.0.1, CNET reports. It’s not clear at this point what causes them, but Apple has not pulled the update, as iOS 8.0.2 fixed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus issues for many others.
An “iOS 8.0.2 Released!” thread on Reddit includes several comments from users who report Wi-Fi connectivity, cellular connectivity and Touch ID problems.
“I just updated to 8.0.2 and my Touch ID is now completely broken! Phone will no longer unlock using my fingerprint,” onoj88 wrote. “When I go to add a new finger I get a ‘Touch ID Failed’ message. Running a 128GB iPhone 6 plus…ended up giving up on waiting at the apple store as the apple servers were getting hammered and firmware was taking at least 3 hours to update, went onto the MacBook there and downloaded iOS 8.0 and flashed that back onto it through iTunes. All seems to be working now, will hold off from updating to 8.0.2 until everything is sorted. Seems like this is an Australian problem.”
“’No service’ and broken Touch ID here after 8.0.2 direct from 8.0.0. In-phone upgrade (no iTunes),” bofhxx said.
On the other hand, others have said that cellular reception and Touch ID have been fixed in iOS 8.0.2.
“Ladies and Gentleman, we have Touch ID and cellular network working. YAH!!!,”nmpraveen said. “64gb 6 Plus just updated. Cellular reception and Touch ID are working perfectly,” FranklinFuckinMint added.
In case such issues are still present, iPhone 6 users should still be able to roll back to iOS 8, just as onoj88 did.
Apple said that less than 40,000 iPhone 6 units were affected by the iOS 8.0.1 update.
