The smartest thing you’ll read about the Apple Watch and Apple’s future

Following the unveiling of the Apple Watch earlier this month during Apple’s bigiPhone 6 event, tech blogs and news sites were all over the place. Some called it a gorgeous device that would shape the future of smartwatches and wearables. Some called it a travesty that should not exist. Of course, Apple devices that break into new territories are always incredibly polarizing when they debut. We’ve seen it with the iPod and again with the iPad, and now we’re seeing it with the Apple Watch, despite the fact that we currently know precious little about it.

Gruber’s unabashed and ruthless style has earned him as many adorers as it has critics, but people from both groups would likely agree that Gruber is very smart and he often has great insights — and some inside information — covering Apple and its plans.

While early reviewers were posting their thoughts on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on Tuesday evening, Gruber published a lengthy think piece covering the Apple Watch and, more importantly, Apple’s future.

The 4,600+ word post covers a wide range of thoughts on Apple’s first wearable device, from functionality and pricing that could climb above $5,000 for high-end models to where the Apple Watch and the recent hiring of acclaimed designer Marc Newson suggest Apple may be headed in the future.
