Two days after the Android 4.4.3 update for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 was released, the folks at Google are now pushing the new firmware to the HTC One M8 Google Play owners.
The HTC One M8 GPE Android 4.4.3 update is being rolled out over-the-air so you’d better start checking the notification bar for the system update message. In case the system update message hasn’t showed up, it’s also recommended to check for the update manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.
Just like any other Android software update, the Android 4.4.3 update for HTC One M8 Google Play Edition is being rolled out in phases which means that some of the users might not be able to download and install it right away. The ETA of the new KitKat update may vary depending on your location.
Because we are dealing with a minor software update you shouldn’t expect important changes. Besides performance boosts and bug fixes, the Android 4.4.3 update for HTC One M8 GPE also arrives with a new Phone dialer app that received a card-based interface for the favorite contacts section and a new color scheme for the phone dialer itself.
Just like the firmware rolled out for the Nexus devices, the Android 4.4.3 update for HTC One M8 Google Play Edition has build number KTU84L. Users that already received the new firmware are reporting that it has a size of around 200 MB, therefore it’s recommended to download it using a stable WiFi connection to avoid unwanted data charges. As you may know, it’s also recommended to have your phone’s battery charged over 50%, because you wouldn’t want the device to power off during the update process.
Have you received the Android 4.4.3 update on your HTC One M8 Google Play Edition? Have you noticed any changes besides the ones we’ve mentioned above? Please let us know in comments.
