Google Fast Flip: Flipboard Alternative For Computer Users

Few days ago a killer application for iPad was launched known as Flipboard. By using this application you can get updated to top news of your niche in an interactive flip style magazine. Also you can connect your Facebook and Twitter account to get all the popular shared stories by your friends. All you can do by tapping and moving your fingers over iPad’s screen.

After using this app on iPad I had an urge to find similar service for computer. I found a nice addon called Chrome Postrank extension which allows you to find the most popular story in Google reader. But this extensions fails to provide flipping like feature.

Yesterday I came to know about Google fast flip, a service present in Google lab. By using this service you can find the most popular stories of the day from top blogs present. Also flip feature is available to flip through different content.

According to Google

Google Fast Flip is a web application that lets users discover and share news articles. It combines qualities of print and the Web, with the ability to “flip” through pages online as quickly as flipping through a magazine. It also enables users to follow friends and topics, discover new content and create their own custom magazines around searches.

Flipping is so fast and you don’t need to wait for next content to load. I think it is the fastest way to go through the main stories happening in the World. As I am a tech guy, I clicked on the Sci/Tech section to see the available resources. I found blogs such as Techcrunch, Readwriteweb, Venturebeat, NewYork Times, Reuters and several other top websites and blogs.

Links are given at the top to find the popular, recent, controversial stories of the day. There are section available for Politics, Business, US, World, Sport, Sci/Tech, Entertainment, Health, Travel, etc.

Click on the thumbnail to go to the flip mode. You’ll get a part of news on one page, if you click the flip button, then you’ll move to the other story. While reading the article, you can click anywhere on it to read the full story. It also allows you to share articles on Twitter, Facebook, Google reader, Digg and Delicious.
