Before starting to apply all the changes, you will first have to take a look at the guidelines below:
  • Use this tutorial only with the Google Nexus 4 smartphone.
  • Do not attempt to root any other Android device using the files you find in this post.
  • Apply root only if your phone is currently running the Android 4.3 JWR66V Jelly Bean firmware. The guide might work with previous Android versions too, but you should be careful while applying root on older versions.
  • Read the entire post first and only after that start applying the changes.
  • Make sure that your device’s battery has enough power left before completely switching off.
  • Make sure that you have the Google SDK ADB Fastboot driver for Nexus 4 installed on your computer. If you don’t, then you can download it from here.
  • Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options menu.
  • If Developer Options doesn’t show up in Settings, then you will have to enable it. Open Settings, then tap the About Phone section, scroll down and tap 7 times the Build Number. You will get a confirmation message telling you that you have successfully become a developer.
  • Do not blame us in case you lose data or you brick your device in the process.
Since you’ve read all of the above, continue to the next part of this tutorial and learn how to successfully root your phone.
