Best Android Apps of the Week: Aviate, Light Flow 3.2, One Drive, Google Slides, and More

Because it’s Monday it means that we have prepared another edition of our Best Android Apps of the Week column. Our loyal readers may know that here you will be able to find some of the best applications that were released in Google Play Store in a week’s time.
In our Best Android Apps of the Week column you will be able to find both new apps and applications that received noteworthy updates. Some of them are free, some of them are payed, and other may have in-app purchases.
Anyway, we are pretty sure that you will be able to find many of them useful. Without further ado let’s have a look at the apps that made it into this week’s edition of Best Android Apps.

Aviate – Free

Aviate is an interesting launcher alternative. The app developed by the folks at Yahoo and aims to make your homescreen smarter, by changing the apps to fit your location and time of the day.
Yahoo’s Aviate is now officially out of beta and, to celebrate that, the developers have included some new features and a tweaked UI.
Aviate is capable of suggesting your favorite contacts allowing you to swipe up from the homescreen to keep in touch with the people you chat with daily, it offers an enhance calendar that connects to conference calls with a single tap, and it offers a “Daily Habits Galore” that enables you to access your clock, weather, daily news summary, and a curated Flickr image of the day with a single swipe.

Light Flow 3.20 – $2.49

Light Flow 3.20
Light Flow is one of the best options when it comes to managing your notification LED. The app developed by Reactle has reached version 3.20 which arrives with a couple of cool features.
The first thing you’ll notice is the overhauled UI which looks a lot better on tablets and offers faster access to notification settings.
If you are a Tasker user you will be able to use the automatization tool to control Light Flow 3.20. The developers also note that Light Flow has received support for 100 new apps.

OneDrive – Free

OneDrive
Microsoft’s OneDrive has reached version 2.6 and even though the changelog doesn’t look too appealing, you will definitely be surprised by the inclusion of a new feature.
OneDrive 2.6 brigs support for searching into the cloud-based storage service. Believe it or not, the OneDrive Android client didn’t have this feature. Well, now it does.

Google Slides – Free

Google Slides
The Mountain View-based search engine giant has announced at Google I/O that they are aiming to improve the way Google Drive handles your documents.
So far, we’ve had Docs and Sheets, but Google added a new app to the collection. It’s called Google Slides and it’s capable of handling your slide presentations. The good news is that you’ll also be able to edit them.
As you might have guessed already, Google Slides it’s free. You can download it from Google Play Store at this link.

Spotify – Free

Spotify
Spotify, the music streaming app received a pretty important update last week. Even though the UI hasn’t changed, the new version adds a couple of useful features.
After you update to the latest Spotify version you will be able to add whole albums to an existing playlist, or to confirm or not whether you want to add a song to a playlist twice.
The new Spotify update also comes with a fix for the ARMv5 users that where experiencing installation problems.

Apex Launcher 2.4 – Free

Apex Launcher
Apex, the popular Android launcher, has been updated to version 2.4. If you happen to rock Apex on your smartphone or tablet I’m sure that you’ll enjoy the new update.
Apex 2.4 arrives with “OK, Google” hotword detection right from your homescreen. Unfortunately, it only works for the devices running Android 4.4 and later. The new version also comes with support for the new dynamic calendar icon in Today Calendar, hidden folder tabs in the app drawer, and notification badges in the app drawer, the later feature being available exclusively for the Apex Pro users.
Apex Launcher is free and it can be downloaded from Google Play Store at this link. Apex Pro is a separate purchase and costs $4.
