Microsoft CEO Nadella Looking to Make Vision a Reality

Only hailing for six months as head honcho so far, Satya Nadella is not just talk, but he's about all walk too. His impact is being widely felt with his swift and relentless actions; moving sales to engineering, saving Microsoft's web search, making Azure relevant and simply making devices and services make sense.

He has created Microsoft's new motto "mobile-first, cloud-first". With that being said, Windows remains Nadella's top priority.

At Microsoft's Q4 earnings call last week, he spoke about putting more emphasis into reducing the complexity and overlap in its Windows engineering efforts. At first, many thought this meant a new OS but it was actually an effort that has been occurring for some time now.

"Everything we do starts with digital work and life experiences to delight dual-users - these are users who use technology both at work and in their personal lives. This is how we re-invent productivity," said Nadella at the earnings call. "When I think about productivity it doesn't separate out what I use as a tool for communication with my family and what I use to collaborate at work."

Microsoft is met with the challenge of persuading people to stick with Windows outside of business, as Microsoft looks to provide a better consumer experience and has been their enterprise strategy for a long time now.

Because of their efforts to improve their statistics in the consumer market, price is very important. Nadella highlighted that Windows and Windows Phone lincenses are free for OEM's building a device measured less than nine inches.

Thanks to this, there could be a crop of cheap Windows hardware ready to hit the market by Christmas. "This holiday season I think you'll see a lot of value notebooks. You'll see clamshells."

Whether the cheaper prices will attract consumers or not, Nadella understands how important both the consumer and business market is to Microsoft. Now its up to him to make his vision come true.
