A new Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now being pushed to Sprint users. If you happen to own the Sprint Galaxy S5, the you’d better keep an eye on the notification panel.
The US carrier officially revealed on their community page that a new firmware update is being rolled out for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5. Unfortunately, it’s not the much-awaited Android 4.4.4 update for the Galaxy S5, but still an Android 4.4.2 build.
The new Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 update has build number G900PVPU1ANE5 and, just like any other update, it’s being rolled out in phases. It seems that the only enhancement brought by the new firmware is the WiFi calling support.
I was mentioning above that the new Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S5 is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. As you may know, once your Samsung Galaxy S5 becomes eligible to receive the Android 4.4.2 G900PVPU1ANE5 update, you should be able to see a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it, choose download, wait for the download to complete, the select install now.
If the system update failed to show up, you would probably want to perform a manual check under Settings > System update > Update Now. In case this method doesn’t work either, then your last chances is to grab the USB cable, connect your smartphone the the PC, then check for the new firmware via KIES. If the KIES check failed, then you would have to wait a few more days.
Are there any Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 owners reading this? Have you guys received the Android 4.4.2 G900PVPU1ANE5 OTA update on your devices? Please let your fellow Galaxy S5 owners know in the comments section below. Oh, and don’t forget to mention your location.
