New Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 Update Rolling out for the Exynos Model

After we’ve told you earlier this week thatSamsung is rolling out a new update for the Snapdragon variant of the GS5, now we hear that the Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy S5 is receiving a new Android 4.4.2 update. According to Sammobile, the new Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 update is now being pushed to the users in India and parts of Europe.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S5 was expected to receive the Android 4.4.4 update, the new XXU1AGN3 update is still an Android 4.4.2 build. Because the S5 was launched pre-loaded with Android 4.4.2 it run the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, new Location menu, cloud printing, immersive mode, full screen album art in the lock screen, or color emoji support out of the box.

The new Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S5 has a size of 200 MB and it is said to integrate performance improvements, but it might as well patch 4.4.4-specific security enhancements, which means that Android L might be the next stop for the S5.

As usual the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 update is being pushed to users in phases, which means that the ETA varies depending on region. Once your Galaxy S5 will be eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. Alternatively, you can grab the USB cable, connect your device to the PC, then check for the new firmware via KIES.

Since the OTA file has a size of 200 MB, we recommend you to download it using a stable WiFi connection to avoid unwanted data charges.
