Sony revealed a few months ago that they will start launching two flagship smartphones a year and the latest reports are suggesting that the Japan-based phone maker is going to keep their promise.
A couple of leaked photos of the Sony Xperia Z3 have leaked online courtesy of Xperia Blog along with the technical specifications of the new high-end Android-powered handset. As you may see in the gallery below the Xperia Z3 sticks to the design language introduced earlier this year by the Z2, even though it was rumored that the smartphone will sport a different design. This isn’t necessarily bad news as Sony’s latest smartphones have been highly-appreciated for their classic aesthetics.
According to the aforementioned source, we are looking at the Chinese variant of the Sony Xperia Z3 which has model number L55t. The model number actually makes sense given that the Xperia Z2 is labeled L50t.
The report also talks Sony Xperia Z3 technical specifications. It seems that the Sony smartphone will be underpinned by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974-AC SoC based on a quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The photos also reveal that the Z3 will sport the same 20.7 Exmor RS camera that equips both the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2.
You should also keep in mind that you are looking at a Sony Xperia Z3 prototype which means that the design or specs may change by the time the smartphone hits the market.
The leaked photos also reveal some details regarding the software platform powering the next-gen Sony flagship smartphone. The device runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat on firmware build 23.0.G.0.98, but, again, this is just a prototype so this particular detail may be subject to change.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to verify the veracity of the report, therefore we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt as nothing is official until Sony says so.
What do you think of the Xperia Z3? Is it good enough to tackle the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, or LG G3 if the specs remain the same?
