Xiaomi Mi 4 Announced: Sanpdragon 801 CPU, 8 MP Front Cam, and 5-inch FHD Screen

After months of rumors, leaks, and speculations, the folks at Xiaomi, Hugo Barra’s new house, have officially introduced their flagship smartphone for 2014. Called Xiaomi Mi 4, the new handset has the looks of a premium device.

The new Xiaomi Mi 4 was officially introduced in Beijing, China and if its design looks familiar to you, it’s probably because the company might have got their inspiration form Apple’s iPhone. In fact, this isn’t the first time Xiaomi introduces a device that looks like an Apple product. A while ago the China-based company introduced the Mi Pad which was a reminiscent of the iPad Mini.

As I was mentioning above, the Xiaomi Mi 4 has the looks of a premium smartphone even though the back cover is actually made of plastic. Anyway, we have to admit that the the stainless steel frame looks pretty awesome.

Even though it was initially rumored that the Xiaomi Mi 4 would arrive with a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, the new handset packs a 5-inch full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution. The new device is kept alive by a 3,080 mAh battery that, according to Xiaomi, is capable to quickly charge from 0 to 60% in an hour.

The smartphone comes pre-loaded with Android, customized with the company’s proprietary MIUI skin. The China-based phone maker also revealed that MIUI v6 will be launched on August 16 and chances are the device will run the new version out of the box.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 technical specifications list also includes a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 13 MP f/1.8 primary camera, and an 8 MP secondary shooter with f/1.8 lens with 80-degree field of view.

Xiaomi Mi 4 will first debut in China at a price of RMB 1,999 (about $320 or £188) for the 16 GB variant and RMB 2,499 for the 64 GB model. The smartphone will debut next in Hong Kong and Taiwan, followed by a release in other markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, and India.
