Amazon released their first smartphone, the Fire Phone, a couple of months ago. As you may know the handset is running a highly customized version of Android called Fire OS 3.5. Well, the Fire Phone is new receiving a software update bringing it to version 3.5.1.
The Fire OS 3.5.1 update is not a major update, but it does bring a couple of new features. After you install the new software update you will be able to double tap the home button to bring up a quick switch page, or to pin apps to the front of Amazon’s carousel on the home screen. Fire OS 3.5.1 also introduces the ability to add folders and groups directly on the app grid, or to delete emails directly from the home screen. The new update should also improve the battery life of your device.
As you may know, once your Amazon Fire Phone is ready to receive the Fire OS 3.5.1 update you should be prompted in the notifications bar. You can also check for the OTA update manually under Settings > Install system updates > Check Now. If a new update it’s available the phone will download it.
You can also install the new Fire OS 3.5.1 update manually. First, you will need to download the update file on your computer from here. Then you will need to copy it on your Fire Phone’s internal storage using the USB cable, then open Quick Actions, go to Device, then select Install System Update.
