Apple has started making its 2014 iPad models, Bloomberg has learned, and the company is expected to launch two new tablets in the coming months. While not many details have been shared about the larger 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 model, the publication says that Apple will use a new anti-reflection coating on the tablet, to make the display easier to read.
Some “manufacturing complications” related to the use of this new anti-reflecting coating are mentioned, although it’s not clear whether they’ll cause any shipping delays.
People in the know told Bloomberg that Apple will unveil the new iPads at the end of this quarter, or early next quarter. A new 7.9-inch iPad mini version, likely sporting a Retina display, will also enter production, and could be launched by the end of the year.
The publication has not shared any details about a third iPad model, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro device that appeared in a variety of rumors and reports so far.
Apple will unveil its next-gen iPhone models on September 9, and launch at least one iPhone 6 version in the following weeks. It’s not clear at this time when Apple’s fall iPad even will take place, though some reports claimed the company has something special prepared for October as well.
