Verizon is rolling out right now the official Android 4.4.2 Update for the LG G Pad 8.3 LTE tablet. Check your notification panel starting today and wait until the OTA Update alert is sent your way.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update is released by Verizon in phases which means that not all the LG G Pad 8.3 LTE users will get the files at the same time. Don’t panic as the new KitKat 4.4.2 firmware version VK81022A will arrive if you own a stock G Pad 8.3 tablet.
After the update the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet has its overall UI improved along with new functions that should enhance the KitKat experience. In Android 4.4.2 KitKat you will get new features such as full-screen Immersive Mode, new white status bar icons, improved cloud print support, Multi-User Mode tweaked, LG Knock Code function, bug fixes, and more.
Several things were fixed, too: SIM card now works correctly when connected to Wi-Fi, fast charging has been fixed, sound is no longer muffled when you’re playing some media file with low volume, the music app is capable of playing any WMA file that features Album ART data, when IPv6 connection is unavailable it will drop automatically to IPv4, QPair app provider permissions are now available etc.
Verizon should complete the release of these new update files by the end of next week which means that all the VZW LG G Pad 8.3 LTE tablets should run the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware until then. You can also check for new update from the System Updates menu in case the new OTA file doesn’t arrive in the next few days.
Note that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat will only be sent for stock LG G Pad 8.3 LTE tablets. You won’t get the new firmware in case your device is running a custom ROM.
