The latest installment in the Skylanders franchise, the game series that brings plastic toys to life, will be playable on tablets when it is released later this year during the holiday season.
Skylanders developer Vicarious Visions has been working around the lock to ensure that the mobile gaming experience is as good, if not better than the console version. The game will be available on iOS, Android and Amazon Fire tablets.
According to Dumb Out, "The Skylanders Trap team for tablets will cost the same at $75.99 as the console version of the game, but it will also come with a Bluetooth enabled pad to load Skylander figures into the game and a Bluetooth controller. The tablet game will also feature touch controls for gamers who would rather not use the controller. Vicarious Visions have also developed an on-the-go mode when it can't be connected to the pad so that players can play when they are on the move."
Activision did $2 billion in sales by offering the original game that could get real life plastic toys to amazingly interact with console video games when placed on a portal, according to The Guardian.
Previous versions of the game tried to work with tablets, but only recently have tablets been built powerfully enough to allow the game to be playable with the same speed, standard and quality.
The only limitations with the tablet are size-related. The Skylanders app will initally only be 1GB.
Skylanders is a revelation in the gaming industry, bringing the tablet into the gaming world as one of the main formats for the gaming experience.
