T-Mobile finds a new way to kick Sprint when it’s down

T-Mobile Vs. Sprint Customers

Things have been going very poorly for Sprint for the last several years and T-Mobile is eager to kick the company while it’s down. T-Mobile on Thursday announced a new program that would give free data plan upgrades to its Simple Choice customers if they refer friends from other major carriers — and T-Mobile made sure to pay special attention to disgruntled Sprint customers.
“Sprint’s customers have suffered much,” T-Mobile writes. “They’ve endured the Framily.  They’ve endured America’s slowest nationwide LTE network.  And now again, the (ironically named) carrier has forsaken its loyal customers, offering its latest, “best deals” to everyone but its own current customers. It’s hard to watch.”
As a solution, T-Mobile is telling its Simple Choice subscribers to “rescue beleaguered Sprint customers” by referring them to the “Uncarrier.” In return they’ll get “a free unlimited LTE data upgrade for a full year,” which sounds like a pretty sweet deal just for getting one of your friends to dump Sprint.
Of course, the timing of T-Mobile’s latest announcement is no coincidence. Sprint earlier this week finally got serious and started offering some reasonably competitive family data plans, although as T-Mobile correctly points out, these plans will only be available to new subscribers who are coming over from other carriers.
The bottom line, it seems, is that Sprint’s new CEO has a lot more work to do if he hopes to shut up T-Mobile CEO John Legere.
