The CyanogenMod team has launched the first CM 11 Nightly builds that we’re getting for the Motorola Moto X 2013 model. The best thing about this release is that it can be installed on any Moto X variant, so you should check the ‘ghost‘ smartphone CM web page and get the ROM zip file.
CyanogenMod 11 Nightly is a beta build of one of the most popular custom ROMs ever created. It is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and it can be easily installed on any Moto X phone that’s been rooted using a custom Recovery like ClockworkMod or Team Win Recovery Project image. Note that the installation of a custom ROM should be done by an advanced user, and you shouldn’t attempt to use such release in case you are an Android beginner.
The CM 11 M10 Snapshot ROM might be released this weekend and it should be the first stable release for the Moto X smartphone. Note that the Snapshot or Milestone releases done by CyanogenMod for all Android devices are much more stable than the CM 11 Nightlies. The Nightly ROMs are usually test builds and these are usually packing some errors and bugs while some important features aren’t 100% functional.
Previously, the CM 11 Nightly builds for Moto X were found under “moto_msm8960dt’ while some other Moto X versions from various carriers were found under similar names but, now, CyanogenMod team has decided to add all the Moto X under one single category with the ‘ghost’ name. Also, they’ve announced that the ‘obake’ Moto Droid Maxx Developer Edition model has been officially dropped because of “lack of a maintaner“.
We will shortly post a complete tutorial on how you can install the CM 11 Nightly ROM for your Moto X smartphone. Note that in case you are already running CM 11 Nightly and your device has the “moto_msm8960dt”, then you can install the latest ‘ghost’ build over that one without problems and without wiping the system memory. In case your phone has a different version, then you should wipe the device and only after that install the new ROM.
After the install is complete you should test all of the new features and improvements added by the CM team. Also, it would be best for you to use the Report Bug option in order to send info regarding any errors or problems you’ve encountered while testing this new ROM.

Don’t install this ROM on any Verizon, AT&T or Republic Wireless Moto X models with locked bootloaders as that will not work.
