CM 11 Nightlies Now Available for Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1

In January, at CES 2014 tech event Samsung introduced a new line-up of high-end tablets. It took them more than two months to bring them on the market, but now that they are available to purchase they also received official support from Cyanogenmod. If you happen to own Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and got tired of TouchWiz we are glad to announce you that the first CM 11 nightlies are now available for your device.

Cyanogenmod 11 was already available for Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, but you will now be able to flash it its 10.1-inch sibling, as well. For the time being the 12.2-inc Galaxy Tab Pro and Galaxy Note Pro are the only remaining Samsung Pro tablets that aren’t supported officially by CM. It’s also worth mentioning that the new CM 11 nightly build is only compatible with the WiFi-only variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. We don’t know when or whether the LTE models will receive official Cyanogenmod support.

For some reason, the folks at Cyanogenmod decided that “picassowifi” would be a good codename for the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. You can go to the Cyanogenmod download page and get the first Tab Pro 10.1 CM 11 nightly build by clicking this link.

Have you ever installed a custom ROM on an Android device? If you answered yes, then it would be easy for you flash CM 11 on Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. Unlock the bootloader, gain root access, flash a custom recovery, download the CM 11 from the source indicated above, then download Gapps from here. Copy both ZIP files on your tablet, boot into recovery, choose “Install ZIP,” go to “choose ZIP from /sdcard,” navigate to the location where you copied CM 11 and Gapps, then flash them like you would with any other ZIP file. Wipe data, wipe cache (just in case), then reboot the device. Voila, you should be running CM 11 now.

If you have no idea what you’re doing, do not try to flash CM 11 on your tablet. You might end up bricking your Tab Pro 10.1.
