Apple already announced a record number of pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, revealing it sold 4 million combined units in the first 24 hours of preorder availability, and thus confirming similar reports from AT&T and independent checks with Apple and its carrier partners’ online stores in the markets the new iPhones will launch first. Further emphasizing the high iPhone 6 Plus demand are Apple’s rumored instructions to employees looking to buy one of the new handsets, as discovered by 9to5Mac on Twitter.
According to a supposed leaked document, Apple employees can only reserve the iPhone 6 during their shift on launch day, and they’ll have to queue with regular buyers if not on duty. Interestingly, the iPhone 6 Plus is not even mentioned as a purchase option for Apple employees on launch day, although they can preorder one like regular customers if they so desire.
“Creating a great employee experience is just as important as creating a great customer experience,” Apple’s leaked note says. “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are available to employees for preorder and those employees who are able to queue with customers. For iPhone 6, store team members who work the overnight or morning shift (beginning before noon) on launch day will be able to reserve one iPhone 6 for personal use, to purchase at the end of their shift. Any team members working the afternoon shift (or not working on launch day) should plan to queue with customers, or purchase from unsold inventory at the end of the day.”
