iWatch details Wireless charging, flexible display
With less than a week to go before the grand unveiling of the iWatch, new details keep pouring in. Earlier on Thursday we learned from The Wall Street Journal that the device will come in two different sizes and will be equipped with NFC technology to facilitate wireless mobile payments. And now a new report from The New York Timeshas just confirmed two more key details about the iWatch: It will come with wireless charging and feature a flexible display.
The Times sadly doesn’t give us too many details about the watch’s display and only calls it “unique” and “flexible,” which presumably makes it different from the displays we’ve seen on other smartwatches so far. The Times‘ sources also say that the display “is protected by a cover composed of sapphire” and that the device’s circuit board is roughly the size of a postage stamp.
As for the wireless charging aspect, the Times says that Apple only decided to use it after it tried and failed to implement a solar charging system.
We’ve got less than a week to go before Apple finally unveils the iWatch and the company is apparently very confident in the device — one report from earlier on Thursday claimed that Jony Ive declared that Swiss watch industry should be scared to death of the upcoming device.
