New Android 4.4.2 for Verizon Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M Brings Security Improvements

Verizon officially revealed on their website that they are now rolling out a new software update for the Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M devices. The new firmware is still Android 4.4.2 based, but it arrives to improve security.

The changelog posted on Verizon’s support page reveals that the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M arrives with improvements for Google security and Messaging App stability and improvements. Because the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, new Location menu, immersive mode, cloud printing, full screen album and movie art, or color emoji support were patched in the previous Android 4.4.x updates for Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M you won’t be able to notice any interface changes.

As usual, the new Android 4.4.2 update for Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD, and RAZR M is being rolled out in stages, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away. As you may probably know, once your device becomes eligible to receive the new firmware you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications area. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.

Even though the new software update might not weigh in more than 100 MB, it’s recommended to download the update files using a stable WiFi network. You, know, just in case, so you avoid unwanted data charges.
