Last week, the folks at Motorola officially introduced their flagship smartphone for 2014, the new Moto X. The phone make failed to reveal any details about its pricing or the retailers and carriers that will have the new smartphone in their portfolio.
Soon after the Moto X announcement, AT&T posted a pre-order page for the new device, also announcing that the first customers will get it as of September 23rd and that the terminal will arrive in their brick and mortar stores beginning September 26th. Even though AT&T is the only major US carrier that signaled its intentions to include the Moto X in their line up, there are also some reports saying that Verizon might release the new device on September 25.
Naturally, everybody assumed that both US Cellular and Sprint will carry the Moto X, releasing its soon after AT&T and Verizon. Unfortunately, you had plans for getting the Moto X from Sprint we have bad news for you. Motorola Mobility revealed on Twitter that “the new Moto X won’t be available on the Sprint network.”
I remind you that the second-gen Moto X measures 140.8 x 72.4 x 10 mm and has a weight 144 grams. The device is underpinned by a Snapdragon 801 SoC with quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, paired with 2 GB of RAM. The technical specifications list also includes a 5.2-inch AMOLED screen with 1080 x 1920 resolution, 16 or 32 GB of internal storage, 13 MP primary shooter with dual-LED flash and 4K video recording support, a 2 MP user-facing camera with 1080p video capture and a 2,300 mAh battery. The smartphone is running Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box and Motorola already announced they will be bringing Android L on the device.
