New Nexus 6 Reports Hint at 5.9-inch Screen, Snapdragon 805, and 3,200 mAh Battery for Moto Shamu

Given the amount of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 leaks and reports that made the headlines over the past few days, there’s no doubt that we are getting very close to the release date of the said devices. We told you yesterday that both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 might be launched mid-October and made available for purchase on November 1st and now we return with more details about the technical specifications of the Motorola-made smartphone.

A report coming from 9to5Google is revealing more information on the features and the appearance of the Nexus 6. Even though recent rumors have indicated that the Nexus 6 could arrive with a 5.2-inch screen, 9to5Google’s sources are claiming that the device features a 5.92-inch display, which checks out with the first rumors we’ve heard about Motorola Shamu. The new report also confirms a Quad HD (1440 x 2560) screen with 498 ppi, Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3 GB RAM, and 32 GB storage, specs that were also revealed by some leaked benchmarks.

Because the Nexus 6 is a pretty big device, Motorola had enough room to fit a 3,200 mAh battery underneath its case. The report also talks about a 13 MP primary and 2 MP user-facing cameras.

As you can see in the photo below, the Nexus 6 (or Nexus X, or Motorola Shamu) looks very similar to Motorola’s latest flagship smartphone, the Moto X. In fact, the folks at 9to5Google are actually calling it a “scaled up version of the Moto X.” The image below is a render that apparently mimics the shape and design of the real device. As you can see, the power and volume keys of the Moto Shamu are placed towards the middle of the device, most likely to be easier to reach.

The rendering published by 9to5Google checks out with a Moto Shamu leaked photo that surfaced online a couple of days ago courtesy of hellomotoHK. Anyway, it’s not clear yet how Google and Motorola are planning to use the round whole on the back of the device. Maybe they are implement a fingerprint sensor or maybe the Nexus 6 could come with Motorola’s M logo. Anyway, this is just speculation.
