Yesterday we told you that the Paranoid Android Beta 4.5 update is being rolled out. Now we hear that the Paranoid Android team has made the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 available for download.
As you may know, the new Paranoid Android builds are aiming to bring you some of the Android L-specific aesthetics before Google releases the new Android iteration to the masses. After PA 4.5 brought the Android L recents screen, the new PA 4.6 build arrives with Android L Dynamic Status Bar. Besides that, you will also be able to enjoy swipe-up gesture to dismiss Hover, along with bug fixes.
I’ve already installed the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 update on my Nexus 5, which is also my daily driver, and I haven’t been able to notice any major issues. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems that the battery is draining a bit faster than usual. Anyway, the experience as a whole is rather solid and enjoyable.
Besides rolling out the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, the developers also revealed that the new builds are available for other supported devices, as well. If you happen to own a One Plus One, Oppo Find 5, Oppo Find 7, Oppo N1, or a Galaxy Nexus you will be able to enjoy the new version, too. You can find the PA 4.6 Beta 1 update files on Paranoid Android’s download page here.
Installing Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 on your device should be fairly easy if you have flashed custom ROMs in the past. As you may know, you will need an unlocked bootloader, root access, and a custom recovery. After you download the PA 4.6 Beta 1 and Gapps ZIP files from here and here, respectively, copy both files on your device, then go into recovery mode. Once there, select install ZIP, navigate to the location where you copied the above mentioned files, select both, then flash them as you would do with any other ZIP file. Apply factory reset, wipe cache (just in case), reboot, and that’s all.
If you need help with the installation of Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 feel free to check out our tutorials. Even though they are meant for PA 4.5 Beta 2, the steps are the same. All you need to do is replace the PA 4.5 Beta 2 file with the PA 4.6 Beta 1 ZIP file you have downloaded from the above indicated source. If you own a Nexus 4 or a Nexus 5 you will find tutorials here and here. This tutorial will teach you how to install Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 1 on Nexus 10, while the tutorials for Nexus 7 2012 WiFi and Nexus 7 2012 3G can be found here and here, respectively. You will also find help for installing PA on Nexus 7 2013 WiFi or Nexus 7 2013 LTE here andhere.
