Samsung releasing Galaxy Note 4 early to combat iPhone 6 launch
Samsung has made an executive decision this week to move forward the Korean launch of the Galaxy Note 4 to the end of this week, September 26, in order to push back against strong iPhone 6 and 6 Plus sales.
The news comes from the Korea Times who says Samsung has seen the sales figures on the new iPhones and has decided it needs to act fast if it is to meet its goal of selling 15 million Note 4s in the first 30 days of availability. Originally slated for release in October, Korea’s SKT, KT and Uplus will get the device a few weeks early now. The Note 4 is also seeing a slight price drop in order to better compete.
Today’s news comes hot on the heels of Samsung confirming it will not be selling Chromebooks in Europe anymore, and a two-year low in share price for the company. Apparently Samsung just can’t catch a break.
The decision to sell the Note 4 early in Korea doesn’t appear to affect North American sales of the device, which is slated for a mid-October release. Though we’ll be keeping an eye out for any news on the subject.
