These are the iOS 8 ‘Apps for Health’ you need
After Apple released iOS 8.0.2 to fix the iPhone 6 issues caused by the previous iOS 8.0.1 update, on Friday the first HealthKit-enabled apps started hitting the App Store, although the company did not put up a special Health apps section on its website that would help users easily discover those health and fitness apps that were updated with Health functionality features. Since then, a special Apps for Health section has beencreated inside the App Store, highlighting some of the first apps that include HealthKit functionality.
“Experience an entirely new approach to wellness where your fitness app can talk to your calorie tracker, your doctor can be automatically notified of updates to your health data and great apps work together for a healthier you,” Apple wrote. “This handpicked collection highlights the best fitness, nutrition and medical apps customized for iOS 8.”
Only 16 iOS 8 apps are featured in Apple’s Apps for Health list, many of them available as free downloads – and yes, the color palette for this App Store section is a bit annoying for the eyes – but more HealthKit-enabled apps should already be available to users in the App Store.
To see what HealthKit apps Apple has listed so far go to iTunes and look for the Apps for Health section, which should appear near the top right under the Best New Gamessection, or click the Source link below.
