HTC announced its Desire 610 mid-range smartphone back in February this year. The device has had pretty limited availability in the North American market so far, with it only being available unlocked and through AT&T is the US. HTC now plans to expand the availability of the smartphone, going by the latest FCC filings. The documents on FCC‘s website indicate that the Desire 610 would soon be making its way to Verizon Wireless and could be announced by the carrier soon.
The Desire 610 comes with a 4.7-inch 854 x 480 FWVGA resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage with microSD card slot for memory expansion, Rear 8MP f2.4 BSI sensor camera with 1080p recording, Front 1.3MP FSI camera with 720p HD video recording, 4G LTE connectivity, HTC BoomSound dual front-facing speakers, 2040mAh battery, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, DLNA, and Bluetooth 4.0 It runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed.
It also features the HTC Zoe feature in the camera app which lets you create, share and remix professional quality highlight videos. Another important highlight of the device is its design. It features a design pretty similar to the HTC One M8 flagship smartphone. The build is very different of course, as it costs much less than the flagship smartphone. Instead of metal, the Desire 610 is made of polycarbonate and the back of the device is slightly different from the One M8’s.
On AT&T the device is available for zero down on contract and $349.99 when purchased outright. On Amazon you can find the unlocked version of the device for just $299. We would expect similar pricing from Verizon as well, especially considering the fact that it is not a hot device right now. With 64-bit processor equipped offerings being available from HTC and other vendors soon, demand for the Desire 610 will not be very high. So to succeed, a low price will be key.
