 Apple’s partners may have just leaked Apple Pay’s launch date

When will you be able to start paying for things using your iPhone? We’re still not exactly sure, although 9to5Mac flags a DailyDot report that seems to indicate Apple Pay might launch as soon as November 7th, which would be just before the start of the holiday shopping season.

“USAA tells us that Apple Pay will be available for its Visa and MasterCard carrying customers starting Nov. 7,” Daily Dot reports.

Of course, this availability is obviously contingent on whether Apple will have released the final version of iOS 8.1 by then, as the current version of iOS 8 doesn’t include Apple Pay support. We know that iOS 8.1 beta 2 contains some hidden features related to Apple Pay, including the setup screen for the new mobile payments service.

Apple Pay, which was announced last month during Apple’s big iPhone 6 event, is an NFC-enabled mobile payments system that aims to take all of the pain points from having multiple credit cards and identification cards in our wallets. Apple says that Apple Pay stores information securely through encryption and will integrate with the Apple Passbook application. The app will support credit cards from MasterCard, Visa and American Express at launch and will also be supported by the six largest American banks.
