The Nexus 6 or should we say the Motorola Shamu, had been a mystery until the past few weeks. Although we had heard about the device coming out around the holiday season with Android L out of the box, not many details about the device were available. In August we finally learnt some details on the device thanks to a leaked benchmark on GFXBench app. Few days back, the very first spy shot of the device was also posted on the web, comparing its size with the LG G3. Now we have more confirmation on the internals of the Motorola Shamu thanks to device info being leaked through Geekbench andCPU-Z applications.
The device was rumored to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and these new leaks confirm that. Both the leaks show the presence of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with four cores clocked at 2.7GHz like the Galaxy Note 4 and an Adreno 420 GPU. The 3GB RAM has also been confirmed.
The CPU-Z screenshots shared on Twitter by user rofl also reveal more information on the display resolution as well. The display resolution has been listed as 1440 x 2392, which is basically Quad-HD 2560 x 1440 but with the on-screen soft keys taking up the lost resolution. Unfortunately the screen size still remains a mystery though. The GFXBench leak in August pointed to a 5.2” sized display but new reports from 9to5Google and other sources point to a 5.9” device. Available internal storage is shown to be 20.55GB, indicating a total of 32GB internal storage for the device. There could of course be other storage options offered, but for now only the 32GB version is confirmed. CPU-Z shows the device running on Android 5.0 OS, which comes as no surprise.
The Geekbench result doesn’t reveal any new info about the device, but only confirms the Snapdragon 805 chipset. The scores of the device are quite impressive though, with a single-core test score of 1040 and multi-core score of 3199. The benchmark performance should improve further as these scores seem to be of a prototype device, so the final version should have impressive performance on par or better than the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge.
Other rumored specs of the device include a 13MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization and dual-led ring flash like the Moto X 2nd generation, 4K Ultra HD video recording, 3200mAh battery, 2MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording and a design similar to the 2nd generation Moto X.
