Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5 Previewed in Video
Even though many OEMs revealed their plans regarding the Lollipop update for their flagship smartphones, Samsung has yet to comment about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Anyway, it’s a sure thing that the Lollipop update will be released for the likes of Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy S4, but no one knows for sure when.
In the meantime, the folks at Sammobile have gotten their hands on an Android 5.0 Lollipop test build for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Naturally, they installed it on an S5 and filmed the experience. As you can see in the video below, many of the design elements of the new interface are aligning with the Material Design guidelines and there are quite a few tweaks to Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. You should also be able to notice the new icons in Toolbox and the improved performance of the Gallery app. In fact, the overall system performance of the Galaxy S5 has been improved in the update, according to Sammobile. Anyway, compared to the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Galaxy S4, the S5 update brings far less changes.
As I was mentioning above, this is just a Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop test build, so it’s far from being ready for prime time. This being the may reasons why Sammobile didn’t made the firmware available for download.
The rumor mill speculates that Samsung is planning to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 sometime in December, synchronized with the debut of the same update on Note 4. For what it’s worth, both Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 might get updated to Lollipop early January.
