CM12 Alpha Built Available For Samsung Galaxy S5

Since Galaxy S5 is still stuck on Android KitKat OS, we are all waiting for the OTA Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out. The Lollipop OS will be soon released, but until then, what do you say, would you test an unofficial port of latest Android firmware? Of course I’m not talking about any software, but about CM12 custom ROM, which is now available for your Galaxy S5 thanks to those of xda-developers.

The ROM is still in alpha stage which means that it is not yet quite stable. But all the essential features and capabilities are smoothly working and according to those who have already completed the update operation, you can flash CM12 for a daily use on your Samsung Galaxy S5. Of course, minor bugs, lags and software issues will be there, but all the problems will be soon addressed.

That’s why if you are planning in testing this new unofficial port of CyanogenMod, first you should make a Nandroid backup for saving / restoring the current ROM that is featured on your device. Do note though that with CM12 installed you will not be able to receive a similar firmware with the stock ROM that will be offered by Samsung. In built apps and Samsung’s own UI are not included in CM 12 as the firmware is based on default Lollipop system, thus you will experience a Nexus-like software.
