LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update to Roll out Later This Week
Google officially introduced Android 5.0 Lollipop on October 15. A couple of weeks later, the folks at LG revealed they will be pushing the new update to their LG G3 by the end of the year. Now, the South Korean phone maker announces that the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled out to users starting this week.
The company also revealed that the first country to receive the LG G3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be Poland. As usual, we are dealing with a staged roll out, with more countries to follow after the update is pushed to the Polish users of the LG G3.
As you may know, once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new OTA update, you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications panel. Tap on it, choose ‘Download now,’ wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now.’ The device should reboot and install the new firmware. In case the system update notification failed appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates.
According to LG’s blog post the new they will reveal an upgrade schedule for other LG mobile devices in the near future. We already know, that the G2 is supposed to get the new update early 2015.
The LG G3 Android 5.0 will arrive with all the Lollipop-specific goodies including enhanced notifications bar and quick settings, dynamic status bar, multi-user support for phones, lock screen notifications, camera and phone app shortcuts in lockscreen, “a new design language with added depth, shadows and animations,” and improved security. Besides that, you will also be able to enjoy 64-bit support, Android Runtime (ART) instead of Dalvik, and improved connectivity.
