Android 5.0 Lollipop for HTC One M7 and One M8 GPE Should Roll out This Week

You may know already that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 is already available for download. Even though the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One M7 and One M8 was supposed to roll out a couple of weeks ago, the Taiwan-based phone maker delayed the update a couple of times. According to an HTC official, the new software update should become available for download this week.

Mo Versi, HTC’s VP of Product Management, announced onTwitter on Saturday that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play Edition should arrive starting Monday. He also mentioned that the new software versions with fixes for the bugs that affected for the previous roll out “are in Google’s QA lab.”

For the time being, there are no reports of the HTC One M8 and One M7 Android 5.0 Lollipop hitting any terminals, but you should expect the software update notification to pop up on your device anytime soon. As usual, we are dealing with a staged roll out, which means that some if you would have to wait longer than others before being able to download and install the new firmware.

You probably know already that once the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA is ready for your device, you should see a system update message in the notifications bar. All you have to do is tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions. You can also perform a manual check under About phone > System updates > Check now, in case the system update notification failed to appear.

I remind you that Lollipop is the most major update Android has seen since its debut. It introduces a new design philosophy called Material Design, better battery statistics and battery saver mode, multi-user support for phones, ART instead of Dalvik runtime for improved performance, lockscreen notifications, revamped notifications bar and quick settings, new recents screen, and more.
