Greek Report Claims 2nd Gen Moto E Could Be Coming Soon
Motorola launched its budget smartphone offering the Moto E only a few months back, but it looks like the company is all set to launch the 2nd generation of the device already. According to a report from Greek technology website TechManiacs, Motorola could launch the 2nd gen Moto E very soon. Along with the speculation about its launch, the website has also posted some rumored specifications of the budget smartphone, which do seem quite promising.
According to the report, the second generation Moto E will see the screen size bumped up to 4.5 inches but will retain the qHD 540 x 960 resolution as the first generation model. The chipset isn’t confirmed but they do mention it could be similar to the chipset on the 1st gen Moto G. That could mean the new Moto E would come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core chipset. Surprisingly the device is also said to feature 4G LTE connectivity. This is quite interesting considering the low price of the smartphone, it could very well be one of the cheapest 4G LTE smartphones on the market when it launches. The amount of RAM is expected to remain unchanged at 1GB. The camera is not going to see any major upgrades either apparently, as the 2nd gen model is said to come with the same 5MP resolution rear camera and will not feature an LED flash at the back this time as well.
The Greek website also claims to have gotten their hands on a prototype 2nd gen Moto E and claim that the design of the smartphone is very similar to the 1st gen model, with only a few minor design changes. The back cover could come in a variety of colors this time, letting you choose the color you want on your device. The dimensions don’t see major change either, and it still is going to be pretty thick according to them. But they do mention that it has quite a good grip and is comfortable to hold in hand, despite the thickness.
On the software front, they claim it will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, which is not surprising since Motorola has already released the Android Lollipop update for many of its devices. The performance is said to be very impressive, with no signs of lag anywhere, based on the short hands-on time TechManiacs managed to get with the new Moto E. And just like its predecessor, the new model is also going to be priced very competitively and be very close to the low pricing of the 1st gen model.
