Value Creates Visibility
Value is the key to visibility (in most cases). Its apparent consistent value -over -time will equate to visibility. Visibility is the key ingredient that you need to build an audience.
Visibility is the upside to creating an audience. An audience gives you credibility. Credibility gains trust through an audienc of advocates.
Now, this is all great information, but how do you create value? More importantly, how do you sustain it?
The Perfect Recipe
Now, I’m not good at cooking anything. Just ask my wife.
Most people aren’t good chefs… Let’s be honest. But… most people can take a chef’s recipe and replicating the dish. With that being said, nobody cares if you created the dish… They just want something that tastes good.
Value is the same way. Not everyone is good at being the creator of value. You don’t have to have all of your own ideas for content on social media. What you do need are the key ingredients to take the value that is already there - and amplify it in a new way that resonates with your audience.
So, here are the seven key ingredients I use in my value recipe.
1. Connect
You can’t add value without connecting to leaders in the value space.
Connect with those that are where you want to be.
You will need to leverage these as connections to help create your definition of “value”.
Connecting is the beginning to an end that never stops in the value process.
2. Inspire
Inspiration drives positive energy. Value is driven by energy. Energy controls the velocity of your value.
Dig deep on this idea. What has drawn you to certain messages?
Your message and motive starts with inspiring others to be better at some level.
If you can’t inspire… You’ll have a hard time getting buy -in on value.
3. Educate
Value is the transfer of information transforming change.
Education is the key element to everything we do on a daily basis.
Look at your network. What content source do you get value out of daily?
Value on social is all driven by education. Those who educate at the highest level always win.
Keep this in mind… ‘ In order to educate there needs to be a transfer from your brain to paper.
Content is the both the Key and the competitive advantage!
4. Challenge
Those who challenge the norm will stimulate uncomfortable thinking in others.
Do you find value in those who constantly agree with your way of thinking? My guess… You think you do, but you actually don’t.
Nobody grows without challenges. Challenging others is the way we gain attention.
Attention is a sign that value is happening.
Who do you know that gets a ton of attention without value? It happens- but very rarely.
5. Personalize
It’s rare to find value in anything that doesn’t hit you on a personal level.
True value has to be personalized to a mass audience.
This is why you have to understand your audience. Your audience needs to be emotionally connected to your message.
The focus of value is always on each individual in an audience. Your message should be targeted on a one- to -one basis of the whole. This is not an easy task.
6. Engage
You can’t personalize your message without one- to- one engagement.
Everyone wants to be seen and heard. Very few want to take time to earn the right to be seen and heard.
Engagement is the only way to truly understand your audience.
How many people on social do you follow those never engage with you? My guess, it’s a rarity.
Time is the most valuable commodity that we all have. You have to earn the right to other’s time.
Engagement is the key to creating an engaged audience. Consistent engagement is the key to keeping them.
7. Mindset Shift
We are all selfish by nature… That is no secret.
Value is in the eye of the consumer.
You are not the consumer.
Your mindset has to be completed transformed to think about everyone but YOU!
Social value is the opposite of ego. Most never have success long term because their head gets bigger than their value.
Keep your mind focused on your audience at all times. Don’t get sidetracked by vanity metrics or noise that may put you in the “spotlight.”
