Apple iPad Air 3 to launch in first half of 2016, won’t support 3D Touch display
Apple launched the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPad mini 4 and the iPad Pro at its launched event in September, earlier this year. However, the company did not launch the much-awaited successor of the iPad Air 2, the iPad Air 3. Now, according to a research note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could be planning to release the iPad Air 3 sometime in the first half of 2016.
First reported by MacRumors, the research note states that the iPad Air 3 won’t employ 3D Touch feature due to Apple’s supply chain issue. Apple is expected to launch the 4-inch iPhone 6c and the Apple Watch 2 at its event in March 2016 and the note suggests that the iPad Air 3 could be unveiled at the same event.
On the hardware front, the iPad Air 3 is likely to sport a 9.7-inch display and it could be powered by Apple’s A9X chipset, which is also present in the iPad Pro. With an 8-megapixel iSight camera, the iPad Air 3 is expected to be priced at $610 (which is approximately Rs 39,700).
