LG G5 to flaunt V10-like secondary display, dual-camera setup and Magic Slot
While Samsung and Sony’s 2016 flagship smartphones are becoming a mainstay of the rumor mills, let’s not forget the LG G5. LG’s flagship smartphone is shaping up to be an interesting device with the latest report suggesting that it could boast a secondary display, something seen on the V10 earlier this year.
The G5, as per Venturebeat, will sport 5.3-inch primary display (smaller than the 5.5-inch display on the G4). But the talking point is the secondary “always on” (160×1040 pixels) display that will show details such as time, weather, date and battery icon when the main display is off. As seen on the V10, when the main display is on, this secondary display will be used to launch favorite apps and shortcuts. As per the report, the company plans on integrating this feature on most of its smartphones launching in 2016.
The publication also highlights the G5’s photography capabilities saying that it will boast 16-megapixel dual-rear cameras with 135-degree wide-angle capabilities. Furthermore the report talks about a ‘circle with a quartet of elements in a square configuration’. These so-called elements include two LED flash bulbs, a laser autofocus, and a RGB sensor to ‘further assist with autofocus and other scene-recognition functions’.
Another interesting aspect, according to the report, is what LG calls the ‘Magic Slot’. This slot will allow users to attach hardware modules like cameras, audio amplifiers or physical keyboards among others.
LG G5 specifications and features: As per rumors, the smartphone will flaunt a QHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 8-megapixel selfie camera and a relatively smaller 2,800mAh battery. As seen on the LG-made Nexus 5X, the LG G5 too will feature a circular fingerprint scanner placed below the rear camera.
