Google updates Search with Yoga cards; experiments with new options on Android Search
Google seems busy tweaking its Search on mobile as well as desktop. It has started rolling out Yoga cards on mobile as well as desktop, and is also experimenting with new options on Android search.
Google announced the new Yoga cards on its Hong Kong Google+ account, which is being rolled out with yoga enthusiasts and amateurs in mind. When a user searches for a particular yoga pose, the resultant Google card shows the pose, its Sanskrit name and a few photos as well. Furthermore, it also shows you what muscles will be benefited with this particular pose.
So for example, if you search downward facing dog, Google Search will show pose’s Sanskrit name (Adho Mukha Svanasana) along with photos. It also shows how the pose will benefit muscles on one’s shoulder, calf, hamstring, hand and arches of the foot.
Google is also experimenting with new features for Search on Android smartphones and tablets. When you tap on the Search bar, users will also see other tabs like Recent Searches, What’s Hot and Nearby, AndroidPolice reports.
Recent Searches is pretty self-explanatory. What’s Hot shows you the current search trends, and lastly Nearby will show you points of interest nearby like restaurants, and ATMs among others. This last tab seems to work similar to Google Maps. As Google is still experimenting with these features, not all users will be able to see them.
