Misfit Ray fitness and sleep tracker launched, goes up for pre-order for $99.99
Misfit has today launched its first new product since being acquired by Fossil towards the end of last year. The Misfit Ray, which features a unique cylindrical design, has been unveiled at CES 2016. It is up for pre-orders on the company’s website with prices starting from $99.99 (Rs 6,660 approximately).
The new Misfit Ray looks quite different from the existing wearables in the company’s lineup, including the Shine, Link and Flash. It features a cylindrical aluminum body with a length of 38mm and a diameter of 12mm. Like the rest of Misfit wearables, the Misfit Ray too can be worn as a bracelet or a necklace.
The Misfit Ray features a single multicolor LED light for all notifications. Inside the cylindrical body lies a 3-axis accelerometer and a vibration motor similar to one featured on the Shine 2. In addition to tracking fitness-related activity and sleep, the Ray also notifies users about calls, texts, alarms and sends inactivity alerts.
The wearable uses replaceable batteries that Misfit says can last up to six months. The Ray is also water resistant up to 50 meters. It is also compatible with Misfit’s Link app that lets you use the wearable as a remote for various functions like changing audio tracks, remote camera shutter while clicking selfies and more.
“We designed Ray to be your most valuable accessory,” said Tim Golnik, Misfit’s VP of Product and Design. “Ray’s design distills the essential performance of our wearables and opens up a world of Ray comes in Rose Gold and Carbon Black, is now available for pre-order on misfit.com, and will be available in retail locations worldwide in Spring 2016.”
As mentioned above, Misfit was recently acquired by Fossil in a deal worth $260 million. Misfit, known for its good looking and rather affordable range of fitness wearables, made its debut in India back in September. Currently, the Shine, Flash and the Flash Link are available exclusively via Snapdeal with prices starting from Rs 1,999.
