Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs Lenovo K4 Note: Price, specifications, features compared
Earlier today, Xiaomi finally revealed its plans to launch the Redmi Note 3 in India. Instead of the MediaTek variant launched in China last year, Xiaomi today unveiled a new variant that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 chipset. While Xiaomi India hasn’t exactly announced a launch date, it has started a contest wherein 100 winners will get to experience the phablet before the official launch. When it launches in India, one of the closest competitors to Xiaomi’s phablet will be the recently launched Lenovo K4 Note. With that in mind, we compare the two phablets on the basis of their price, specifications and features to see which comes up top.
Price: The Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant is priced at 999 Yuan in China that roughly translates to Rs 10,100. Lenovo’s K4 Note, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 11,999, and is set to go on sale on January 19 exclusively via Amazon India. Lenovo has also launched an ANTVR headset, priced at Rs 1,299, but along with the phablet the bundle costs Rs 12,499.
Specifications: Both the phablets flaunt 5.5-inch screens with full HD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood though, the Redmi Note 3 is powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor, while the K4 Note is powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor.
Xiaomi has unveiled two variants of its phablet – 16GB storage variant with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB storage variant with 3GB of RAM. It has however only revealed the price of the 16GB variant. The K4 Note, on the other hand, features 3GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage that can be further expanded using a microSD card.
On the photography front, the Redmi Note 3 features a 16-megapixel primary, while the K4 Note features a 13-megapixel rear camera. The megapixel count however doesn’t translate into superior performance, and we will reserve our judgment till we have reviewed the devices. Up front, both phablets are equipped with a 5-megapixel snapper.
Both the phablets also come with the usual set of connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. Lenovo’s K4 Note however also boasts NFC, something Xiaomi’s phablet lacks.
Features: Both phablets also boast a fingerprint sensor, though the K4 Note also features a set of stereo speakers with Dolby ATMOS support. On the software front, both run on Android Lollipop wrapped under their respective UI.
On paper, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Lenovo K4 Note are quite closely matched. A lot depends on the kind of price tag Xiaomi opts for when it launches its phablet. We will have a much closer look at both the phablets when we review them. Stay tuned!
