HTC Desire 616 Released in North Asia, South Asia, China and Russia

Not everyone is willing to spend more than $600 for a new Android based device, so while we have several expensive high end smartphones already available on the market, we should also head our attention towards the affordable devices that are being prepared or even released. In that matter, during the following lines we will discuss about the budget friendly HTC Desire 616, a new Jelly Bean powered handset that was officially launched through various Asian regions.

In a few words, starting from yesterday, HTC released the Desire 616 in North Asia, South Asia, China and Russia. While the phone will arrive through several Asian markets, the Desire 616 will not embrace the US customers, though budget friendly devices are always appreciated whether we are talking about Europe, Asian, or US users.

Anyway, in term of specs and features, you should know from the start that HTC Desire 616 is not here to impress. Actually the phone brings mid range performances as it comes with a 5 inch display (720p), an eight core (though the performances are not high end at all) 1.4 GHz MediaTek MT6592 SoC processor, 1 GB of RAM, only 4 GB of internal storage, micro SD card slot, an 8 MP rear facing camera along with a 2 MP front facing shooter and with a 2000 mAh battery.

The performances are not outstanding, but for only $238 (that’s the Desire 616 price tag in Singapore) it should do just fine even for a more demanding type of customer. Unfortunately, the HTC Desire 616 features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, so no KitKat here – of course, an Android 4.4 OTA update will be eventually released by HTC. At the same time, the phone runs on HTC Sense 5.5 UI, which means that you can enjoy in built features like BlinkFeed and Zoe.

So, that’s the HTC Desire 616; remember that HTC released this device in North Asia, South Asia, China and Russia under the price tag of $238. Well, what do you think, are you interested in buying such a device, or you rather go for Motorola Moto G instead?
