Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA ZIP for Nexus 7 2013 WiFi Is Now Available

Google announced Android 5.0 Lollipop back in October and even though it was initially reported that the new update will hit the Nexus 7 2013 on November 3rd, the users couldn’t download it until yesterday. Anyway, it’s better late than never. The Nexus 7 2013 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is being rolled out gradually, which means that many of you haven’t received it yet. Fortunately, there’s a workaround for getting the update faster.

A staged roll out for the Nexus 7 2013 Android 5.0 Lollipop update means that some user would have to wait longer than other, which is pretty annoying. As you may know already, once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new firmware you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. You know the drill: tap on it, choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then choose ‘Install now’. Your device should reboot and install the update. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About device > System updates > Update now.

If neither of the above mentioned methods worked, then you can use the OTA ZIP to manually update your Nexus 7 to Android 5.0 Lollipop. You can grab the OTA ZIP file from here, then use adb sideload command to flash it on your device. Remember that you must run an official stock firmware in order to be able to use this method. Of course, you can also install Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Nexus 7 2013 using the recently-released factory image. Anyway, this procedure will wipe all the data on your tablet, but it’s recommended if you are coming from a custom ROM.
