Anxious to see what Apple's next mobile OS update will look like on its iPhone refresh? BGR reports that you're in luck, as YouTube user Tom Rich has uploaded a new simulation video that shows iOS 8 running on a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 screen.
As you can check out below, the dummy sixth-generation iPhone, which is also shown compared vs. the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5, will really offer Apple the opportunity to spread things out with larger icons and a wider keyboard designed to make typing much easier.
The iOS 8 update is highly-anticipated for a variety of reasons, but one of the most important factors in grading its success with users will lie with how it improves the everyday use of compatible devices. One of those updates consumers can look forward to is with the new mobile OS iteration's boost to the iPhone's photo-taking experience.
AnandTech reports that iOS 8 will integrate manual controls that will improve the ability to take great photos with the Apple smartphone:
"To be clear, iOS 8 will expose just about every manual camera control possible," the publication reports. "This means that ISO, shutter speed, focus, white balance, and exposure bias can be manually set within a custom camera application. Outside of these manual controls, Apple has also added gray card functionality to bypass the auto white balance mechanism and both EV bracketing and shutter speed/ISO bracketing."
"It's been said that Apple is one of the few OEMs that take camera seriously, and these new controls can only cement that position." AnandTech adds.
While BGR notes Apple has already introduced timers and exposure settings, this update will completely open things up for users.
The iPhone's camera won't be the only tech given a lift by iOS 8.
Apple's desktop-grade power packed into the A7 chip featured in the iPhone 5S, iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina Display will be fully utilized by iOS 8, as developers will be able to make use of the Metal API for console grade games, AppleInsider reports.
Metal, which was announced at WWDC 2014, will offer an improved graphics experience for devices with A7 and the next-generation A8 chip than what is currently possible using OpenGL technology, BGR notes.
While Apple's intentions for the implementation of the 64-bit has been widely debated, the publication adds that, with Metal, there is no doubting the benefits it will bring users and developers:
"Future Apple chip designs could further improve performance and efficiency, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see future Apple products, including an Apple TV box, or an actual iTV pack future-generation A* chips capable of offering end-users impressive visuals and an immersive gaming experience akin to what’s currently possible on game consoles."
iOS 8, which is now available for download as a beta 2 iteration, is expected to release sometime this fall.
