UPDATE: If you didn’t get the update then you can use our “How to” guide and manually install Android 4.4.2 for your AT&T Galaxy S4.
AT&T has announced officially that the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update will be released over-the-air today for the Galaxy S4 I337 smartphone. Keep an eye on your device’s notification bar later today to find out first when the new updating files are pushed to your device.
Android 4.4.2 for your Galaxy S4 AT&T comes with the build number set to KOTH49H and its features are: support for Samsung Galaxy Gear, drag-and-drop support for uninstalling or disabling apps, improvements added for calls, KitKat white status bar icons, better multitasking, tweaks added for the overall system performance to be increased, improved S features, and more.
The KOTH49H.1337UCUFNB1 Android 4.4.2 OTA will reach all Galaxy S4 AT&T devices starting today, it will only be available via OTA across the entire US in stages. Note that this update will only reach the AT&T variants, while all the other carriers will probably push the new KitKat builds soon.
The OTA Android 4.4.2 Update measures somewhere between 412MB and 842MB in size, this depends on the currently installed OS on your Galaxy S4.
Make sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the new firmware update. Also, it would be best for you to backup some of your most important files, so that you won’t risk losing them during the update. Note that if you’re on a stock Android ROM, then you won’t lose any files in the process.
Check for new updates by opening Settings, then More and tap on About Device menu. Next, press Software Update and then hit the Check for Updates button. If the new updating files are ready for download you need to click OK and then Continue, the software files will be downloaded by your smartphone. After the download is complete you simply need to confirm the update, the AT&T Galaxy S4 will restart after the new firmware files are installed with success. Check that the new ROM has been installed correctly by going to Settings> More and then open About Device: the Android version should say 4.4.2.
Remember that AT&T will release the Android 4.4.2 OTA in stages, so you shouldn’t worry in case your Galaxy S4 doesn’t get the update notification today. Use the ‘Check for Updates’ button under Settings daily until the update reaches your device.
