iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus update causing problems with phone and Touch ID
UPDATE: Apple has now pulled the software update and an Apple spokesperson provided the following statement to BGR:
“We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can. In the meantime we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update.”
You may want to hold off on upgrading to the just-released iOS 8.0.1. Both 9to5Macand MacRumors are reporting the “multiple” users have encountered some serious bugs with the newest update, including both “no cell service and broken Touch ID.” On iPhone user cited by 9to5Mac said that his phone was “basically useless” after installing the update, which means that you should definitely be wary about installing it yourself until we learn more about possible causes for these bugs.
Apple released iOS 8.0.1 earlier on Wednesday and it promised to fix multiple bugs regarding HealthKit, third-party keyboards and cellular data usage, among many other things. If these users’ reports are correct, however, it seems that Apple has replaced some of these bugs with newer, bigger bugs. We’ll update you if Apple releases a statement.
