Despite the massive hype surrounding the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, no product is perfect and there’s always room for improvement in one way or another. Ben Bajarin has found something for Apple’s hardware engineers to think about when it comes time to develop the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus next year — namely, how to deliver a phone that has a big display within a smaller overall frame.
To illustrate this point, Bajarin posts a side-by-side comparison picture of the iPhone 6 Plus and the LG G3 to show how LG has managed to develop a device that has a 5.5-inch display just like Apple’s big iPhone but that packs it into a smaller body:
As you can see, the G3 is noticeably smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus despite having the exact same display size. Some of this is completely unavoidable since Apple won’t likely give up its iconic home button on the iPhone anytime soon. Nonetheless, you can also see how LG has done a remarkable job of manufacturing incredibly slim side bezels that are the best of any flagship phone in the industry. LG also uses a lot less space for the G3’s top speaker and camera than what Apple uses on the iPhone 6 Plus.
At any rate, we’ll be interested to see if Apple’s hardware team works on using less space for the top speaker and side bezels next year, because as great as the iPhone 6 Plus looks, it could probably be refined even further.
One important thing Apple can improve with next year’s iPhone 6S
