HTC One M8 and One M7 Android L Update to Arrive 90 Days After Release

Yesterday, during the Google I/O 2014 event held in San Francisco, the officials of the Mountain View-based search engine giant previewed the Android L release, also promising to make the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 Android L factory images available for download today.

Soon after the Android L announcement, the folks at HTC officially revealed they will be bringing the new update to their HTC One M8 and One M7 within 90 days of the public release of the new Android iteration. In fact, the Taiwanese company had a similar approach last year, promising to bring Android 4.4 KitKat to HTC One M7 within 90 days of the announcement.

Even though Google already made the Android L Developers Preview available for download for both Nexus 5 an Nexus 7 2013, it’s yet unknown when the Android L final code will be sent to HTC to be integrated in their terminals. Summing up, don’t expect the Android L update for HTC One M8 and One M7 to be released three months from today, but three months from the time the Android L is made available for the Nexus devices.

The Android L release is the biggest update Google’s mobile operating system received since it saw the light of day. The new Android iteration arrives with a revamped design, 5,000 new APIs, improved behavior for multitasking, ART runtime as default, a new design philosophy called Material, lockscreen notifications, enhanced Quick Settings, and more.

The bottom line is that HTC already showed commitment to their high-end smartphones, and we are very glad to see that the Taiwanese company is not forgetting about the HTC One M7.
