The rumors talking about a premium Galaxy S5 variant emerged before the launch of the current Samsung flagship smartphone, but intensified over the past couple of weeks. Even though it was initially speculated that the it will be marketed as Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, the latest reports revealed that it will be actually called Samsung Galaxy F.
A few months ago, soon after the Galaxy S5 announcement, Samsung’s CEO JK Ship dismissed the rumors of a premium S5 model. Why? First of all because he wanted to protect the smartphone’s sales, as certain customers would have waited for the premium model. Secondly, because the rumored premium S5 might not be an S5 variant. Rumor has it that the South Koreans are planning to give birth to a new line-up of premium smartphones called Galaxy F.
New leaked photos of the Samsung Galaxy F have surfaced online courtesy of Phone Arena. If the photos prove to be the real deal, then the Galaxy F will feature with a brushed metal finishing on the back. It’s really hard to tell if it’s real metal or just plastic imitating metal, but most sources seem to agree that the new flagship will have an aluminium body.
The leaked photos also show that the Samsung Galaxy F will have a slightly larger display than the current Galaxy S5 and that it will arrive with LG G3-like thin bezels. If the rumors are to be believed the Galaxy F will boast about a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution.
The rumor mill also indicates that the new Samsung flagship will be underpinned by a quad-core 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 CPU, that will sport 3 GB of RAM, and a 16 MP ISOCELL camera with OIS module. In fact, it was reported that even the Galaxy S5 was supposed to feature optical image stabilization, but Samsung’s incapacity of manufacturing enough OIS modules forced them to ditch it from the current phone.
What are your expectations for the Samsung Galaxy F? Would you be disappointed if it’s not made of real metal? Please let us know in comments.
