The Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.4.2 OTA update is now rolling out for AT&T users, so if you happened to own this particular device you’d better keep an eye on the notifications bar.
According to the changelog posted onSamsung’s support page the Android 4.4.2 update for AT&T Galaxy Note 2 arrives with full screen album and media art in the lock screen and lock screen camera shortcut, the ability to choose the default app for messaging, the new KitKat-specific immersive mode, transparent status and nav bars, new Location menu, color emoji support, and cloud printing. Besides the aforementioned KitKat-specific goodies, the new update also arrives with updated Samsung native apps, support for NFC-based transactions, improved Samsung Keyboard, and the ability to set sound for Samsung apps, while Beats Music is now pre-loaded. You’ll also get other security improvements, performance boost, and bug fixes.
The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 OTA update is labelled I317UCUCNE5 and it should have a size of over 500 MB, so it’s recommended to use a stable WiFi network while downloading it to avoid unwanted data charges.
Just like any software update, the Android 4.4.2 update for Galaxy Note 2 is being rolled out in phases, which means that some users might have to wait a few more days until it lands on their devices. As you may know, once your terminal will become eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to see a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions.
In case the system update notification fails to show up, you should also perform a manual check under Settings > More > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. Alternatively, you can grab the USB cable, connect your Note 2 to the PC, and check for the Android 4.4.2 update via KIES.
