Broader Rollout for Verizon Moto G Android 4.4.4 Update Confirmed

We’ve told you earlier this week that the Moto G Android 4.4.4 update is being pushed to the owners of the Verizon variant, but it wasn’t until today when Motorola announced a broader rollout. The announcement was made via Twitter.

Because the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, cloud printing, white status bar icons, immersive mode, new location menu, or color emoji support were patched in the previous Moto G updates, the Android 4.4.4 update arrives with accuracy improvements to power profile, stability, framework, and security fixes including update to OpenSSL, and the ability to pause video recording. The new update also arrives with a new Phone dialer with card-based interface and new color scheme and a new UI for the People app. Furthermore, the new Motorola Altert app is capable of sending periodic alerts with your location to your selected contacts.

As I was mentioning above, the Verizon Moto G Android 4.4.4 update roll out is now broader, but, even so, some of you might not be able to download and install the new firmware right away. Once your Moto G becomes eligible to receive the Android 4.4.4 update, you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, choose download, wait for the download to complete, then select install. Your smartphone should reboot and install the new update.

If the system update notification failed to appear, we would also recommend you to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now. Given the size of the OTA update file, it’s recommended to use a stable WiFi network in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
